Biography

​Rancho Cucamonga, CA native, Leeza Yorke, is a mezzo-soprano vocalist, earning her bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University, Bloomington and master’s degree from California State University, Fullerton. She is a winner of the Redlands Bowl Vocal Competition as well as an Honorable Mention in the Laffont Competition-San Diego District (2024). In 2023, she portrayed Madame Manon in Mission Opera’s West Coast premiere of Girondines in Santa Clarita, CA. With Lyric Opera of Orange County, she has appeared as a Puppet in Ethel Smyth’s Fête Galante, Stéphano in Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet (2023) as well as the title role in Pauline Viardot’s Cinderella (2022). Stepping into theater, Yorke made her appearance as Mother Abbess in The Electric Company Theatre’s 2023 production of The Sound of Music, where her “incredible mezzo-soprano voice brought chills down the spine.” She has made her international debut as the Nursing Sister and covered the role of the Princess in the International Lyric Academy’s production of Suor Angelica, in Vicenza, Italy. Most recently, she made her chorus debut with Houston Grand Opera in its 2025 production of Porgy and Bess and made her Metropolitan Opera Chorus debut in the same work (2025-2026). In June of 2026, she will make her Cincinnati Opera chorus debut in the groundbreaking world premiere of Lalovavi by Kevin Day and Tifara Brown. Yorke eagerly looks forward to making her solo debut as Cherubino in Tacoma’s 2027 production in Le Nozze di Figaro. Offstage, she is a devoted music educator, teaching grades K-12 and Adults.
